Asbestos Fibres Released – Another Company Fined

In 2015, a Glasgow building company was carrying out refurbishment works in a flat when an employee used a powered saw to cut through a kitchen cupboard door, accidentally releasing asbestos containing materials (ACM’s). He was unaware the kitchen cupboard door contained asbestos, and subsequently disturbed the asbestos fibres.

Though an asbestos refurbishment survey was carried out however, the company failed to realise that the door had not been surveyed.

The company was fined £4,000.
